The ABB Protronic 500 is a versatile, modular process controller designed for universal application.
It offers precise control, extensive configurability, and robust expansion capabilities through multiple I/O module slots.
Suitable for front-panel mounting, it ensures reliable operation in diverse process engineering environments with high accuracy and flexible integration options.
Universal Input AI01: Configurable for 0/4...20 mA standard signals, thermocouples (Types J, E, K, L, U, R, S, T, B, D), Pt100 RTDs (2-/3-/4-wire), or potentiometers. Resolution ≤0.01%, Accuracy ≤0.2%. Features line break/sensor break monitoring, linearization, and square-root extraction. Overcurrent/polarity reversal protection up to ±40 mA.
Analog Input AI02: Input for mA signals (0/4...20 mA), technical data similar to AI01 but without electrical isolation. Option for 0...10 V input (see Code No. 310).
Binary I/O: 4 configurable binary inputs/outputs. Input rating: 24V DC, 1-signal: 13.0...30.2V, 0-signal: -3.0...5.0V. Output rating: 24V ext., 1-signal: 13.0...30.2V (0...max mA), 0-signal: -3.0...5.0V (0...0.15 mA). Switching frequency ≤8 Hz.
Common Data: Resolution ≤0.01%, Accuracy ≤0.2%, Temperature effect ≤0.2%/10°C. Permissible common-mode voltage vs. device ground ≤±4V DC. Permissible differential-mode voltage: 50 mVss. Hardware input filter limit frequency: 7 Hz.
Analog Output: 0/4...20 mA at max. 750 Ω, short-circuit and open-circuit proof. Control range: 0...≥21 mA. Load dependency: 0.1%/100 Ω. Resolution ≤0.01%.

Transmitter Feed: Output voltage 20...24 V DC, 100 mA, short-circuit proof with load monitoring.
Controller Types: 2-point PID, heat-off-cool, step controller, continuous controller (optionally split-range).
Programmer: Stores up to 10 programs, each with 15 segments. Segment time: 0...99:59:59 hours.
Configuration: Password-protected list configuration or free configuration (via PC software IBIS_R+).
Expansion: 7 module slots for adding analog/binary I/O, interfaces (RS485, RS232, PROFIBUS-DP), real-time clock, etc.
CPU: Measured/correction value resolution ≤0.01%. Cycle time ≥45 ms (master setting without additional modules). Data backup via Flash-EPROM or optional memory card.
AC Version: 115 to 230 V AC (90...260 V), 47...63 Hz. Power consumption: 9 VA (6 W) without modules + max. 12 VA (9 W) with modules. Power failure bridging >150 ms at >180 V AC.
DC Version: 24 V UC (-25...+30%), residual ripple <±3 Vss. Power consumption: 10 VA (7 W) without modules + max. 13 VA (9 W) with modules. Power failure bridging >20 ms at 0.85 x Uitem. Power factor cosφ=0.7. No external fusing required.
